National Baseline Survey: KAPB on HIV & AIDS among MSM TG in Fiji
MENFiji is seeking a Local Research Institution/Consultant who will work with the MENFiji Secretariat and the Management Collective RME subcommittee and possibly an International Research institution/consultant in reviewing and finalising the groundwork for the implementation of the national baseline research survey on KAPB on HIV & AIDS among MSM TG in Fiji. The consultant will provide technical support to the secretariat in various areas which include building the research capacity of MENFiji through its members; technically review and refine the research and ethics proposals including other supporting documents before submission to the ethics committee. The consultant will provide technical support in other areas on research when needed.
The expected outputs of the consultancy include:
• a technically sound proposal for undertaking the quantitative and qualitative study of MSM TGs in Fiji.
• capacity building training on research for selected MENFiji constituents who will be involved in conducting the research.
• In collaboration with the international research institution/consultant produce in a timely manner a comprehensive technical report on the findings of the baseline social survey and the key recommendations on the way forward for HIV programming for MSM TGs in Fiji.
The study would provide baseline strategic information for evidence based programming on HIV amongst the MSM TGs population in Fiji. This will entail;
• an assessment of the current level of knowledge on HIV&AIDS among MSM TGs in Fiji.
• Identification of prevalent sexual practices and behaviour among MSM TGs in Fiji.
• Determination of current prevailing attitudes towards HIV& AIDS among MSM TGs in Fiji.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Education Qualification:
A Masters degree qualification in the field of public health research, or its equivalence.
Training certification on social research.
Proven ability to write technical reports in clear and well-structured English
Experience:
Has done research work with vulnerable groups, such as MSM TGs, in Fiji or the Pacific.
Has proven relevant work experiences in the strategic planning, implementation and management of HIV and marginalized group training
Working experience in the Pacific on Sexual Health and Rights of marginalized groups is desirable.
The Diplomacy Training Program (DTP) is calling for applications for its 20th Annual Human Rights and Peoples’ Diplomacy Training Program for Human Rights Defenders from the Asia-Pacific Region and Indigenous Australia.
The program will mark the 20th Year of DTP’s flagship annual training, the longest established human rights capacity building program in the region.
The program will be held from 26 July–13 August in Timor-Leste at the invitation of President José Ramos-Horta.
